As always, I run for my mom's best friend, Betty. She is always with me during this run with her positive thoughts and I can still hear her laughter that will make anyone smile. She is the main reason I still do 'this race' instead of moving to a different triathlon with a new cause. I do this for her and so many other women who have way more courage than I do when it comes to facing challenges in life.
I'm blessed to have had Kendall, Alisa and Angie by my side each year. We all push each other through 8 months of training and on race day. I am also thankful each year that my kiddos are willing to get up at (choke...) 4am to support me. Their pre race hugs and high fives on the course are what help push me through!
And the race is on! This is a pic of a woman who dropped over a minute on her swim time. She is stoked and ready for the bike. I ended up getting faster on each leg of my race and landed with a final time of 1 hour and 36 minutes. This is a Personal Record of 3 minutes faster than last year. No, I did not make my goal. Do I have this goal for next year? You Bet!
I'm so thrilled with my time and feel great with my training and what I have accomplished in the past year. I worked hard and it showed in my race and how my body recouped. I am so thankful for my loving family who gets up to cheer me on. They wait patiently for my brief sightings on the course and cheers so loud and proud. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Maybe one day we can do one as a family! (Am I talking Crazy, Kris?!? Must be that post race high.)
Another great race in the books - every woman decreased their time over the prior year - I call that a massive success! Can't wait to be even faster in 2016! Now, lets go relax in the pool! My legs are zapped!
