Build and Grow Days for the Kiddos

Lowes and Home Depot host kid build days.  We first went in February of 2015, but the sound was too much for Karsten.  We took a brief hiatus from building and gave it another shot in February of 2016.  Boy, what a difference a year makes.  Karsten loved it and Kasey was very good at reading the directions this year.  They get super fun work aprons and earned badges for each project they complete.  I wonder how many we can earn!  Their first project was a Monster Truck at Lowes.  They had as much fun building it as they have had racing it at home!
The top thing we learned at Lowes that day was: Safety First.  Kasey might have taken it to the extreme and insisted on wearing the goggles home so that no bugs flew into his eyes with the windows down ~ Silly Kiddo!
We also got to build a Butterfly house at Home Depot.  I'm not going to lie - we have yet to have seen a butterfly flitting around it, but that thing is certainly build with quality.  The boys hit every nail themselves and chose the perfect colors to make it a welcoming home for those butterflies.  Maybe we will see them later this summer.
Another project was with Grandma and Grandpa during our Arizona visit! More on that visit later, but here they worked on building their own little Radio Flyer.  They proudly display their wagons in their room and I often see stuffed animals going for a ride. They have learned so much at these events! I can't wait for the next one!!
