Back in July (yes... today is mid-Aug) we went to ND for a sunny week at the lakes. Well, the beginning wasn't so sunny, but we did get a lot of creative quality time together. This included catching up with long time friends and family, playing beauty parlor, learning new card games... oh! ... and pulling out our teeth! Brooklyn lost tooth #2 while we were at the lakes. On silly bite into a cookie and it was ready to come out! She was such a brave little girl and pulled it out herself!
Don't forget about all the yummy meals we had prepared for us while we visited. Steak, Ribs, More Steak (we are kinda spoiled)... the list goes on. Thank you to all the chefs who worked so hard this week (mom, melissa, brady... not pictured, but definitely appreciated!)
One night, our little family decided to start toasting all the good things in our life. Well, looks like we had A LOT to be thankful for and some of us ended up in bed early that night. It was most certainly a night to remember... "Squirrel!"
All I can say here is that this is one of the Major reasons I try to come home so often. Love My Sis!
Visiting with family is always a Must during our trips home. We took a couple of our rainy days and headed into see GG (and enjoy some baked goods) as well as Eunie. Eunie has moved to a new facility, so we got to see her new digs and meet her ... um... we will loosely say 'wonderful' roommate. She did look like she was doing great and had an awesome time chatting with us and getting plenty of hugs from the kiddos. Even her pup, Pookie, got hugs from each of the kids!
We even got out for some boat time, swimming and skiing! Kasey even got to ride on a tube with some friends. Both my kids tried to ski, however, were not so successful. That is ok - Karsten said he will try again next time! Brooklyn was a pro as per usual. This girl can ski!
I mentioned we visited during July, right? Well, this is where I have to admit to being over a month behind in blogs. It was actually over the 4th of July. We had a lovely day on the 4th, with plenty of activities for all. There were fireworks, field games, a delicious BBQ... what more could you ask for!
Here is where all the field games started. There was flip your sandal as far as you can, blow the biggest bubble, egg on a spoon races, wheelbarrow races, balloon toss and of course tug of war. The Eberts definitely planned great activities for all!
Brady (AKA: "Mr Fun") picked up poppers, sparklers and more for the kids to celebrate the 4th the best way you can. They all had a blast! After it got dark, we were even treated to big displays from neighboring areas and enjoyed celebrating our freedom. What a Great way to end a perfect vacation!
