Broncos Season

Kris got to take Kasey to his first ever Bronco game this year.  Karsten went last year, but on Kasey's turn... it rained and we didn't end up going to the game.  On Aug 29th, we tried again and succeeded.  Kasey was super impressed with tailgating and our seats.  Although, the night game finally won out and he dozed off in the second half.
Sept 3rd was Amy's turn to take one of her little men to the game.  She loved hearing Karsten's excitement and him telling her that he knew Manning wouldn't play because it was preseason and we didn't want him to get hurt.  What a smart little dude.  He also was super impressed by the seats and the game, but darn it if the night game won again ... he followed his brother and dozed off in the second half.  In fact, the tired boy even scored a pedi-cab ride most of the way back to  our car.
Our next game wasn't until Oct 4th due to scheduling.  Crazy! But it was a very important game.  Vikings vs the Broncos!  What a fun day in our home.  The boys never could decide who they wanted to support.  They wore Vikings jerseys, but were never far from their Bronco helmets or Bronco footballs.  We had fun tailgating with Kris' coworkers (Kate and Dan) and were astonished when Dan offered us his seats after halftime.  Did I mention they were 26 rows up on the 40 yard line? Holy Buckets!  What a great way to watch my two favorite teams play!  One of the best and closest scoring game we watched this year!  Great Day all around (even if the Vikings lost).

Nov 1st was another cool game for Amy.  It was the Packers and Amy has never seen them in person before.  Lisa was in town visiting, so Kris was sweet enough to let the girls go to the game.  We enjoyed some card games while tailgating and then headed in for the big game. This game made 8 wins in a row for the Broncos.  The stadium was insane!
Nov 15th was the traditional Chiefs game with Angie.  Each year, Amy sells Angie two tickets to the Broncos and then Angie turns around and sells one right back to Amy to go with her!  Seems like a pretty sweet deal!  I was feeling a little bad about the fact that Kris has only gone to two games this year (and one was preseason), but the sushi we had at tailgating filled that hollow feeling in my stomach.
The last regular season game was Jan 3rd.  I know you saw a pattern of Amy at 'all' the games this year, but Kris finally got to go!  And, extra bonus ~ He took his Dad!  It was a mighty game with a lot of enthusiasm from the stands; especially with the return of Manning mid-game who was out with an injury most of the season.  They both enjoyed watching the Broncos win the top seed in the playoffs.  Go Broncos!

Steamboat Ski Bunnies

Oh My Gosh! These Kids are so dang Cute! They were so excited about their new equipment! They were a little apprehensive about actually using the equipment, but they sure felt cool!  The first stab was standing and getting pushed in the parking lot.  That seemed to go ok after a little coaching from grandpa.  We learned quickly that falling doesn't even hurt.
The next plan was to hit the small bunny hill next to our condo. That actually went Incredibly Well!  Kasey and Karsten wanted to continue for hours, but we called it a day and put away the skis to let the boys rest up for the big hill tomorrow!

Time for the big hill! These kids could not be more stoked!  They threw on their helmets, got a few tips from Grandpa and Daddy and started downhill.  These kids Nailed it!  They had such a great time skiing down and we had a great time watching them.  Ok, we didn't enjoy dragging them up the hill each time (no lift), but still enjoyed the day and the workout!
It's fun to see the progression.  At the start, it was focusing on balance and as they got better; they started shifting their weight to turn.  We were all super proud of the boys and they enjoyed skiing and getting more confident every day!  We actually got to do 3 days at Steamboat!
What an experience to see the boys enjoy skiing so much.  I think they just felt super cool wearing their first lift ticket passes around their necks.  This event could have gone either way and we were excited it was a success.  Next plan... Ski Lessons!

Turkey Day in Steamboat

OK, I didn't quite get all my posts completed in the 41 days I had left of 2015, but seriously... who knew we had so much going on!  I'm writing this on the first day of 2016 and we are only on Thanksgiving.  Well, I guess my NYE resolution is to get my 2015 blog done in the next two weeks and to stay on top of the 2016 blogs all year long!  Happy Reading!
For Thanksgiving this year, we decided as a family to have the entire Cannode Clan head to Steamboat Springs for a fun family trip.  David, April and Holly were supposed to join us, however, due to April's high risk pregnancy... they had to cancel.  As they say; the show must go on.  We still decided to head up as a family of six from Wednesday through Sunday. The photo above shows our awesome condo and the wonderful snowy conditions.  What do you do when you first go to a condo in the mountains? Kasey and Karsten's answer was to hit the "hot pool", of course!
What else is there to do in the snow?  Sledding!!  We found a bit of a hill just outside our door and enjoyed a few runs in the deep snow.
We of course had to have the traditional Thanksgiving meal.  You might think it would be hard being out of town and pulling it together, but with a little organization, it was almost perfect!  I say almost as my pumpkin pie was out on our porch and a tad might have gotten eaten by a bird.  That's ok - we had plenty of food.  Kris brought up his smoker to put on our porch and smoked a wonderful Thanksgiving ham.  I don't know how it happened, but we took zero pics of the cook making the ham! It was definitely an experience though and ended up so tasty!
The real reason we chose steamboat this time of year was for the kiddos to try out their ski equipment!  This is their first year and they couldn't be more excited!  I have a TON of pictures from skiing, but based on how many... I will post a separate blog on that whole experience.  Until then, here is a little taste of my boys at the base of Steamboat.
Our weather was so great while we were up there.  Each night, it snowed and each day it was bright and sunny!  Waking up to fresh powder and a beautiful sunny day is just perfect!  We even got in a few hikes.  The pic below was our local hike to get the kids out and see the city.  The boys found this hill, which they promptly climbed and conquered.

Did I mention all that fresh powder?  Kris and I were so excited to skip away for a few hours of skiing at Steamboat resort.  Amy is really only used to Winterpark and this was WAY different.  The fresh powder made it a little more exhausting for Amy, but we both sure had a blast!  We found a few favorite runs and in fact.. never found one we didn't like!  Awesome pow-pow and so Bluebird!
Did I mention Kasey had "two" loose teeth last week?  Well, it was time for another to come out!  Yup, the apple trick worked again!  This kid is so proud of his toothless smile!  I guess we will be singing "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth" during the holidays this year.  Thank goodness the tooth fairy knew we were up in Steamboat and came to visit us up there with some "gold coins"  (aka: Sakakawea dollar coins).
One of our favorite hot spots is Johnny B. Goods diner for the best milkshakes in Colorado!  George was especially pleased with the fact that you could get a combo flavor.  Best of both worlds!
Our final day was spent on a family hike up Emerald Mountain Quarry.  Another awesome day and great photo ops too!  I should mention that I did rip my father-in-law away from the Buckeye game for our family hike.  As such, we may have been required to do a very special picture while we were at the top of our hiking hill.  "O~H~I~O"!!!
I can't believe how much we did in four tiny days!  Kris and Amy even went to the Strawberry Hot Springs, but no pics there since it was so dark.  Amy isn't sure she likes the hot springs very much, but maybe Kris will take her to a family friendly one next time. Needless to say, this trip was Amazing and a holiday none of us are sure to forget anytime soon!
