Happy Cybertron Halloween

What else would we be this Halloween other than Bumblebee and Optimus Prime!  It has been a Transformer kind of year.  We could not have been more happy to find these costumes.

Even mommy and daddy got in on the fun.  Amy was Cleopatra and Kris was her boyfriend, Marc Anthony.
It was another lovely evening to trick or treat... ok, it was truthfully a little windy and cold, but we stuck it out in hopes of tasty candy.

We did things a little backwards this year.  After Halloween, we cut up the pumpkins we received from Grandma Sandy and Papa Bill.  The boys had fun and were thrilled with the outcome of their pumpkins.  Daddy did a great job cutting exactly on the lines drawn by the boys.

Mattson's fall visit

The Mattson's came to town this past fall to visit the grand kids as well as take some meat home from the mountains.  Elk camp was a success this year and all were stoked to take their share home. While the hunters were in the mountains, Amy and the boys were blessed with Grandma Sandy.  We were lucky with beautiful weather, which mean lots of outside time.  In fact, we had two CSU games and a Bronco game during her time in Denver!  Thank goodness for lovely weather!

The Bronco game was a Thursday night game, which can be difficult if you have children.  Thankfully, Uncle Jimmy was willing to help out.  We took our kiddos tailgating and while Mom and I headed into the game... Jimmy took the boys to his house to watch the game from there.

On our way in, Mom and I got invited to join in tailgating with a few of the Bronco Super Fans, the Limo Driver and um... well... not really sure who mom met, but he looks friendly enough I guess.

Since Elk camp was a success... the hunting crew made it back in time for the CSU game the following weekend!  It was another nice day out and we had quite the turn out from our group!

Sunday was Boo at the Zoo and the kids were jazzed!  They dressed up in their fireman and police officer uniforms they got from Santa a couple of Christmas' ago and we were ready to trick or treat!

Grandpa recently decided to get the boys into Archery... Some kids took the lessons a little more seriously than others.

It was an amazing, yet short trip from Grandma and Papa Mattson.  We look forward to our next visit together.  Watch out... Karsten has been practicing with his bow and arrow.

Karsten's First Broncos Game

Everytime we watch the Broncos on TV, Karsten asks to wear his jersey and jumps up and down cheering at every play.  How do you reward this Broncomaniac?  Take him to his first game at Mile High.  To get the full experience, Kris took Karsten early to tailgate in our usual spot where they enjoyed some "beverages" and hot dogs.

After the tailgating, Karsten and Kris headed into the game to see the team warming up.  Karsten could not smiling the whole afternoon/evening.  This is what an excited kiddo looks like.  This kid LOVES Football!  So Ready for the game!

He Almost made it...After 3 quarters of "Go Broncos...Go Broncos" from Karsten he needed a place to lay his head.  What better pillow than Daddy's leg.  For most of the game the Broncos were behind on the scoreboard, despite the cheering from Kartsen, but they did manage to attempt a 4th quarter comeback which got the crowd back into the game. All of the cheering in the last few minutes of the game eventually woke Karsten up and he was back to cheering, right along with the rest of the stadium.
I think the best part about this experience was hearing Karsten talk about the game the next day.  He definitely paid attention to details and was able to tell you a lot of what happened.  This kid was so super excited!  In fact, he was so excited that he requested that we take his ticket and place it in his baby book for safe keeping.  Yup, this kid is going to enjoy sports in one capacity or another the rest of his life.

Labor Day at Chatfield

We are already missing the sun, however, it makes us appreciate the weather on Labor Day even more.  Labor day was more successful than planned.  We assumed it was going to be busy on the lake as it was a holiday, but we had both a completely sunny day as well as some open water to enjoy.

We were totally excited Mom and Dad Cannode were able to join us on the water.  Not only were we all thrilled for the extra company, but Amy was pretty psyched that we had an extra adult to help hold a ski flag.  I can't remember the last time we went water skiing on Chatfield.  It was as close to glass as a Colorado reservoir gets.  What a perfect day.

Once the adults were done skiing; we asked who wanted to go tubing.  Karsten wasn't quite sure about the temp of the water, but Kasey didn't hesitate to say yes.

After congratulating Kasey on his successful tubing, Amy decided to take a stab at it.  Kris wasn't as nice to her as he was to Kasey.  Just a little rough outside of the wake - I'm not sure my body is even touching the tube in one of those pics.

The rest of the day was spent relaxing.  We had lunch, enjoyed some lounging in the water and even practiced our swimming skills (with vests on, of course).  Kasey was a champ.  He didn't even want to hold onto mom and dad.  He just swam.  Again, Karsten was a little apprehensive, but still got to swim a bit.

I can't think of a better way to spend a holiday than with family and were very excited that Mom and Dad Cannode were in Colorado for a bit to enjoy the lovely weather with us.  It was a perfect way to end our very short 2014 boating season!
